What is a #84 Spindle and How Do I Know I Have One On My Trailer?

Question:

Item # CE13515 What does #84 spindle mean? I am replacing the hub and bearings on my utility trailer. This item looks like it fits the bill. I have the old hub with me failed on the road and trailer is parked elsewhere and I can measure the hub where it fits on the axle and the existing bearings and nut. Just want to make sure Im getting the correct part. Thanks.

The #84 spindle is just a common way to identify the spindle dimensions typically used for 3,500 lb axles. So instead of listing out the parts, people can just say they have #84 spindles and it's easier to know what fits it.

The CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13515 uses the following parts:

Inner bearing: L68149 (1.378" inner diameter)
Outer bearing: L44649 (1.063" inner diameter)
Grease Seal: 58846 (1.719" inner diameter and 2.565" outer diameter)

As long as this matches what you're currently using then you have a #84 spindle that this will fit on!
