Will the Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-257-5UC3-EZ Replace an AL-KO 8440 Hub

Question:

I burned out the bearings and brakes on my pop up. As a result the brake hub castring has chips out of it and I would like to replace it. The hub is marked AL KO 8440 it appears to be the same as the Dexter hub you sell under code 8-257-5UC3-EZ. Can you please tell me if these to hub parts and bearings are interchangable?

After doing some research on your AL-KO 8440 hub, the Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly, # 8-257-5UC3-EZ, would be the correct replacement hub. This hub uses the same inner bearing # L44649, outer bearing # L44649 and grease seal # 10-9 as your AL-KO hubs so it will fit on your spindle without any issues.

The Dexter hub also has the same dimensions, 7 inches x 1-1/4 inches, and the same bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches.

Since you found some damage to your hub, I would also recommend checking your spindle for damage. If the spindle is damaged, you could experience problems in the future with the new bearings and hub. If the spindle is damaged, I recommend replacing the axle. Spindles are welded to the axle and are not easy to replace.
