Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 3,400 lbs Trailer
Question:
I have a 2017 Ford Explorer and a 2014 KZ Sportsman 19 camper single axle that weighs 3400 loaded. I am overwhelmed by all the different weight distribution kits! I have to my ball about 6 to match the tongue. The Explorer squats pretty bad. I need the easiest system to hook up to so my wife can solo to dog competition events. I dont understand why so many options! I think I would like the type that has the straight brackets that mount to tongue so I can mount without modifying battery holder brackets. It appears they have more adjustment than the type that have chains ping down? Please advise as to which system would work best including a shank with a lot of drop. It is 2 hitch and 2 ball. Thanks.

I understand your frustration and I would be happy to help you. If you are wanting the easiest system to hook up so your wife can do this without needing help you are going to want the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BLU36FR.
The TrackPro has built in sway control and a tongue weight range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs which matches up perfectly with your 3,400 lbs trailer. The included 2" shank is 13" overall and has a total height adjustment of 8-3/4". This system includes a 2" hitch ball.
I also recommend the Classic Accessories Tow Bar and Weight Distribution Tote item # CA80113. This heavy duty bag is perfect for storing your weight distributing hitch. It is 36" x 11" Wide x 8" Tall and has padding that prevents damage to your hitch and prevents dings to your vehicle's cargo area from shifting gear.
