Trouble Shooting Running Lights Not Working On A 2006 Ford F-150 XLT With Trailer Hooked Up

Question:

I have a 2006 f150 xlt. When my trailer is hooked up I have brake lights and both blinkers are working, but no running lights when I turn my headlights on?

With your running lights not working when your trailer is hooked up and your headlights on it sounds like you could have a blown fuse. Per the fuse box diagram for your 2006 Ford F-150 XLT you should check #6 which is for the park lamps. If that doesn't fix it you will have to trace the wire as far back as possible to check for brakes using The Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993. You will also need to check the trailer side wiring since it only happens when you plug in the trailer.

Using the circuit tester mentioned above will identify shorts in 6V, 12V and 24V circuits, fuses, test connections, and wiring harness.

If that still does not fix the problem you will have to replace the complete harness. The Pollak 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole - Ford, GM, Dodge, Nissan w/ Factory Plug # PK11893-11932 would be a good replacement.

I attached a review video link below.
