Will the Trailer Hitch Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 4-1/2" Drop/5" Rise Work with a Bike Rack

Question:

Hi, I use a a Curt hitch Item # C11458 with 1-1/4inch receiver on a 2017 Chevy Cruze Hatchback. The hitch is used to mount a Thule T1 bike rack Item # TH9041. I just moved from a flat state to a hilly state and noticed that the lowest point of the bike rack sometimes touches ground when the car suspension compresses during a transition from steep slope to flat ground. Therefore, Id like to raise the bike rack. I understand this connector Item # e93YR to raise the receiver and convert to 2. The T1 bike rack can also be mounted to a 2inch receiver. The TW of my hitch is 200lbs. Using the connecter it would be lowered to 100lbs. The bike rack + bike do not exceed 60lbs. Am I correct to assume that it will be safe to use this connector part # e93YR to raise my T1 bike rack? Thank you.

The Trailer Hitch Adapter part # e93YR can be used to raise a bike rack off the ground more to provide greater ground clearance. It will as you said reduce the hitch's capacity by 50% so as long as the weight of the bike rack and bike is under half the hitches capacity you will be good to go.

The 1-1/4" to 2" adapter on the bike rack won't pose any issues either.
