Should Tire Chains Go On All 4 Tires of a 4x4 2013 Ford F-150 with 275/55-20 Tires
Question:
I have 2013 Ford F150 FX4, a 4x4 model with 275/55 20 inch tires. Do I just need a pair of chains or cables for the rear wheels or all four, since I probably would be in 4x4 mode if snow is on the ground?

Expert Reply:
You can put chains on all 4 wheels of a 4-Wheel drive vehicle if you want to. Doing so will also help with steering. But you do not have to put them on all 4 wheels. If you go with just 2 wheels then put the chains on the back.
Chains that are going to offer the best traction are going to be square-link chains. For tire size 275/55-20 we have Glacier chains with cam tighteners, # PWE3231SC, Pewag chains with cam tighteners, # PWE3229SC, and manual adjust Pewag chains, # PWE3229S.
Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have included a link to our FAQ article on tire chains for you.
