How To Get More Ground Clearance with Cargo Carrier
Question:
Is it possible to get a Angled 2 shank for my curt cargo carrier? I currently have the straight shank and need more clearance.

Expert Reply:
I do have an option for you but you can't simply replace the shank on your cargo carrier for one that offers more ground clearance. That said, you can add an adapter such as the Yakima Hitch Extension for 2" Receivers part # Y69VR but keep in mind this will reduce your hitch capacity by fifty percent. Instead, I recommend a new carrier with built-in rise like the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches part # e98874.
