Can I Safely Use a Roofnest Rooftop Tent on 2014 Toyota Prius with Inno Aero Crossbars

Question:

I bought a Roofnest Sparrow car top camper for my 2014 Toyota Prius and bought your Inno Roof rack with an XB100 and an XB108 crossbars. your diagram shows them 27 1/2inch apart 11 3/4inch from the front and 15 3/4inch to the back but my Roofnest says the bars need to be at least 30inch part and optimally 36-42inch apart. Did a I buy the wrong rack or can I adjust it to make it work. The Roofnest Sparrow weighs 130 lbs.

Thanks for reaching out and for your purchase of the Inno roof rack kit for your 2014 Toyota Prius:

39" and 42" Crossbars - # INXB100-108
Flush Feet - # INXS200
Fit Kit - # INK865

I reached out to Roofnest to clarify what they meant by those specs and my contact said that 30" measurement for them is from the front of the front crossbar to the back of the back crossbar. Since the Inno aero crossbars are 3-1/8" wide that extra spacing for them puts them right at that 30" spacing so this will work great for your application.

I also double checked with them about using the roof rack with door jamb connections as opposed to a roof rack that connects to fixed points or a raised rail and my contact said that they have found the door jamb connection to be perfectly safe so this setup will definitely work on your vehicle.

Attached is a review video of this rack on a 2013 Prius C for you to check out.
