Solution for 8" Replacement Wheels With 4 x 3.75 Bolt Pattern

Question:

Hello, I have an old boat trailer. The rims on the boat trailer are 8 rims with a 4 x 3.75 pattern. I have searched the web and found this is a classic lug pattern. Do you carry 8 rims with the lug pattern? If not, can you help me locate them? I need a spare rim and tire for my trailer. Thanks!

I do have a solution, but wheels with a 4 x 3.75 bolt pattern are not available. You may be able to find some wheels that match at a junk yard but nobody makes them anymore. That being said, I recommend switching the hubs on your trailer to hubs with a modern 4 on 4 bolt pattern.

To choose a replacement hub you will need to find out which bearings you currently have. The part numbers may be stamped in the side of the bearing, otherwise you will need to measure the inner diameter with a digital caliper like the # PTW80157.

Based on the 8" rims you currently have, you probably have a straight spindle with # L44649 inner and outer or # L44643 inner and outer bearings. If you find that you have a 1" inner diameter you have # L44643 bearings and you can use the # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. If your measurement is 1.063" you have # L44649 bearings and can use the # AKIHUB-440-2-2K.

This would allow you to add new wheels and tires like the # AM30120 along with a spare. You will want to choose a tire that matches your current tire size for a replacement.
