Re: RA-28 tall Ladder Rack Why does the rack require rain gutters? I plan to bolt it directly to the sides of my vintage tear trailer to gain extra height.

For trailers that do not have rain gutters like your tear trailer you could install a set of artificial rain gutters like the Rhino Rack Artificial Rain Gutters part # 739A but the Rack'Em ladder rack part # RA-28 can not bolt directly to a trailer roof without them.

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
