Bed Camera Solution for 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 that Can Display all the Time
Question:
I want to be able to look at the hitch and tailgate while driving. Just had the tailgate open. Destroyed the tailgate and part of the trailer at the next turn to get off the freeway. I have the oem tailgate camera. It seems the bed cameras only work in reverse. Not useful in this case.

Since the Custom Third Brake Light Camera for 8" Factory Monitor # 3460010 that fits your 2019 GMC Sierra displays on the monitor on your dash which also controls the stereo it's only active when the vehicle is in reverse. A better option for you might be a setup that displays on the rearview mirror like the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - Mirror with Monitor # RVS-772718 which you could mount near the third brake light and be able to view the hitch and trailer at any time.
