According to my contact at Dexter, the Dexter # BP01-225 is rated for use on up to a 7K axle and it is intended to fit Dexter and Dexter Nev-R-Adjust brake assemblies. It has a larger profile and may not fit on Hayes/Alko brake assemblies. Where as the # BP01-180, is also rated for use on up to 7K axles, and it is considered a fit for Dexter and Hayes/Alko brake assemblies.

The # BP01-185 is rated for use on up to 6K axles, and is considered a fit for Dexter brake assemblies.

If you have a Dexter or Nev-R-Adjust brake assembly then yes the # BP01-225 would replace a # BP01- 185. The # BP01-225 would be an upgrade since the magnet for that # BP-185 is only rated for up to a 6K axle.

If you have a Hayes/Alko brake assembly then you will want to use the # BP01-180 brake magnet.

All of these brake magnets are intended to be use on 12 by 2 brake assemblies.

I have included links to these products for your reference.
