Can I Use The Thule T2 Pro XT On A 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

I was wondering if the thule t2 pro xt bike rack will work for my fj since I have the tire mounted on the back of it. I realize that I wont be able to fold it upright right when not in use? But would this product be able to work at all?

Yes, the Thule T2 Pro XT can work on your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Unfortunately, you will have to get an additional item for it to work. You will need to add a hitch extender to use this hitch bike rack. I recommend the RockyMounts Hitch Extender w/ Hitch Pin and Lock - 2" Hitches - 8" Long, part # RKY10008. It will adds 8" of length of your trailer hitch receiver. But keep in mind, whenever you add a hitch extender, you reduce the maximum tongue weight and the maximum gross trailer weight of your trailer hitch by 50%. However, with the hitch extender, you will be able to fold the T2 upright when not in use.

The reason you need the hitch extender is because the Thule T2 Pro XT Hitch Bike Rack you attached to your question only measures 7" from the center of the hitch pin to the closest part of the rack. Your spare tire is wider than 7", so even with the rack in the down position, it will not work. Please keep in mind this T2 Pro XT is the same as the T2 Pro XTR, part # TH83JV, except the latter comes with wheels to help maneuver the rack.

The hitch bike rack you attached to your question, Thule T2 Pro X Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # TH83GC, has even less space between the center of the hitch pin and the closest part of the hitch bike rack in the down position, 6-3/4".

I have included a product description link and video review links below.
