Wiring an Additional 12 Volt Circut From Trailer Connector to Trailer

Question:

I have a 7 pin connector on a horse trailer and the factory 7 pin connector on a 03 2500 Silverado Duramax. One of the wires on the trailer is used only for lighting in the tack room. I do not have any 12v power only at the connector on the truck but one of the flat terminals is not being used. Is there a simple way to get power to this terminal?

If your trailer does not have reverse lights, you can use that circuit to provide an additional 12 Volt circuit for your trailer. Use the center pin of the trailer connector, and wire it to a length of 12 gauge wire ran to the positive battery terminal. Protect the circuit with an inline 40 amp Circuit Breaker, part # 9510.
