Troubleshooting An RV Water Heater Pilot That Will Not Stay Lit

Question:

Replaced tank, thermostat and pilot/thermocouple kit about 2 years ago on Atwood 6 gal water heater. Worked fine last summer. Now pilot will not stay lit no matter how long you hold the button. Replaced pilot/thermocouple kit. No help. What next?

You've basically replaced the entire unit so at this point it would leave me to believe it's not getting 10-13" W.C. and that the regulator is the issue. I recommend having a technician come out and meter your system to see what the pressure is at and whether the regulator can be adjusted or will need replacement.

If you do need to replace the regulator we have the Compact Low Pressure 2-Stage Automatic Changeover RV LP Gas Regulator # 37207-31525 for a twin tank setup.

We also have the Camco Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59323 or Camco Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator # CAM59313 if you have an on-board propane tank. These regulators are orientation specific to ensure proper venting so you'll want to make sure you choose what matches what you already have.

If the unit is getting proper gas/water/electric levels to it and still isn't operating then complete replacement would be the next step. If this is the case for you then I recommend getting away from tanked units and going with the Furrion # FR98SR to get instant hot water.
