Can Switching From Rail Style Legs to Puck Style on a Curt Q20 Change the Clearance Height

Question:

I have the curt Q20 and use it on a F-350 for years without a problem. Now I have a F-450 2022 long bed with the puck system. To save money I order the C16017 now the clearance between the trailer and the truck bed is less than 2 inches and dont want to put it on the road. something is very wrong with this part.

Using a Curt Q20 with the Curt OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch Legs for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package # C16017 will naturally sit a little lower than the Curt Q20 on a rail system. This sometimes can cause the clearance to be low. Another factor could be the truck itself. If your new F-450 sits higher than your F-350 that could be playing into it as well.

Your Head Unit for Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16530 does have 3 height adjustments. I would ensure that the Q20 head is installed with the hitch head sitting as high as possible. You can also adjust your pin box by changing which bolt holes are used on the welded on flange to help with clearance issues.
