Weight Capacity of Trailer When Using Two 5,200 Lb Dexter Trailer Axle Beams Without Hubs
Question:
I have a couple questions about this axle: 8327820 1 If I have a dual axle trailer, does this mean my max load is 5,200 pounds or 10,400 pounds? 2 Can I put 4.5 x 5 hubs on these? Specifically, can I take the hubs off this set of axles I already own and put them on the 5,200 linked above? 5545I-EZ-89 3 Do the 5,200 spindles I linked to above come wired to be upgraded in the future for electric brakes? I found another listing using this spindle and including the hubs and electric brakes but not sure I really need that yet as I havent determined the weight of my tiny house yet. Thank you,

The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam part # 8327820 has a 5,200 lb weight capacity. Therefore, for a tandem axle trailer this will be doubled and then if you add another 10-15% for tongue weight you'll get your gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) which is the most the trailer can weigh loaded.
In regards to hubs, you cannot use a pair from a 3,500 lb axle as they don't have the same bearings, you'll need new hubs for a 5,200 lb axle. The Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # 42865-KIT without brakes or Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-105-106 with brakes. The axle can be used both with an without brakes, the wires are there regardless.
Please note, with the larger size axle you must also upgrade to a 6 on 5-1/2" lug pattern. If you need options for this please see our list below.
