What Is The Difference Between 5,200lb Axle e55gr and 6,000lb Axle e23gr?
Question:
Other than the weight capacity, what is the difference between axle e23gr and e55gr? Is the wall thickness of the tubing different?

Sure is!
The only difference between the 5,200lb axle # e55GR and 6,000lb axle # e23gr is the wall thickness of the tubing.
They both use the same spindle as it's actually the outer bearing and race in the hub that give extra strength and not the spindle diameter themselves.
Since both of these axles are the same length, and same spring seat length, I'd just go with the 6k # e23gr for some extra peace of mind. This won't increase the capacity of your trailer if you originally had 5,200lb axles because the frame and other components play into trailer capacity, but you know you're axles will have some extra strength.
