Brake Controller For 2009 Volkswagen Touareg With Factory Tow Package
Question:
Hi, we are leaving on vacation soon with our Touareg, pulling a 2006 Forest River Flagstaff 25’ travel trailer. The Touareg has a factory towing package and can handle the trailer’s weight 5,000#. The question is if I need a brake controller or not, and if so which one. Thanks for a prompt reply!

You will need a brake controller for your Forest River travel trailer with electric brakes and for your 2009 Volkswagen Touareg with the factory tow package, there is a plug-in option available from Curt:
- Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller with Dynamic Screen # C49UR
- Curt Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers # C51522
The Assure # C49UR will give your travel trailer smooth braking proportional to that of your truck so you have a more comfortable, safe towing experience. Along with that, the Assure stands out because of its large OLED screen that makes it really easy to use and understand. It also has continual diagnostic checks with safeguards to prevent battery drain or shorts.
