Troubleshooting No Trailer Brake Power with Primus IQ Controller on 1998 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 and I just recently installed a Primus IQ proportional brake controller. I’ve Hooke to several trailer and all say not connected. I purchased a 7 way tester and have power to all connections expect for brake. How would I test where my issue could be on my truck?

To test the installation of the Primus IQ # TK90160 and Wiring Adapter # 3020-P on your 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 you'll need to use your tester on that brake controller pin location for your truck 7-Way (see attached photo) while someone uses the manual override button to manually send power back to the brakes.
If you do this and you find power on that pin then the issue is somewhere on the 7-Way connector or trailer side of things but since you've tried multiple trailers I'm guessing you'll find little to no power at the truck side 7-Way and you'll need to test the blue wire coming out of the brake controller to make sure the signal is being sent. If it's being sent then your OEM wiring is shorting out somewhere and you might look into replacing it with 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5. This way you have brand new wiring and you aren't relying on 24 year old OEM wiring.
