Can B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Be Used With Sidewinder Pin Box
Question:
Looking to use the sidewinder turret with my BW FIFTH WHEEL HITCH PART NUMBER RVK3500. Will this work and if so what parts will I need. My fifth wheel hitch is mounted thru the bed. I have read that if the hitch is mounted thru the bed in place of the gooseneck it will not work. I will only be using the above BW FIFTH WHEEL. The mounting system takes place of the gooseneck by removing the ball and ing the fifth wheel inset . Any help on this would help me out a lot. Thanks for your time and attention.

The 20K B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # BWRVK3500-5W can not be used with a rotating pin box such as the Sidewinder. This type of mounting design, attaching to a gooseneck hitch which is a single mounting point, cannot be used with any device that changes the pivot point of your trailer's king pin. A rotating turret will/can cause that single mounting point to twist creating an unsafe condition.
For a ford Super Duty with the OEM puck system, you can swap the hitch head out to be mounted into the Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty, # BWRVB3300 and this will drop directly into the four pucks on any 2011 or newer Ford Super Duty truck with the OEM prep package.
