Recommended Suspension Enhancement For A 2021 F250 Super Duty 4x4 Towing A 16K Car Trailer

Question:

I have a double stacker trailer 28foot by 13foot 3inch tall to pull behind a 2021 F250 4x4 super duty. Wifes show cars inside. Trailer is 7800lbs empty and it is 16000 lbs fully loaded. Tung weight is 1600lbs. Trailer is capable of 20,000 lbs full loaded and truck at factory specs is rated for 20000lbs tow capacity. Unfortunately, my wife wanted the truck lifted. 6inch lift and no rear sway bar in its current configuration. We have a lot of trailer sway and 3inch of rear suspension sag. Currently using a Curt Weight Distribution system for 15k with the proper shank for leveling and also using dual trailer sway bars. However, the trailer sway is still too much to feel safe. Looking at the following items to limit the sway Roadmaster sway bars vs Hellwig. - Part numbers would be helpful Torklift superhitch system Airlift loadlifter 7500 Any advice is appreciated.

For the 2021 Ford F-250 I recommend the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM93VR. You will need to contact Roadmaster for longer end links since you have a 6" lift and this sway bar requires that the forward leaf spring bump pads be bolted to the frame and not riveted.

We don't currently carry Hellwig products so I can't speak to their effectiveness when compared to Roadmaster.

The TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLF1008-30 is the correct fit for your F-250. No drilling will be required but you will need to remove the factory hitch and drop the spare tire for the installation.

As for the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs # AL55FJ, you'll also need the 6" Air Lift Universal Air Spring Spacers # AL52460 to fill in the 6" gap you'll have from your lift kit. This lift kit has a 7,500lb capacity to help manage the load from your trailer and provide you with a more comfortable ride.

You may also want to consider installing an on-board air compressor to like the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL58WQ, so that you can adjust the pressure in your air springs on the go. This air compressor utilizes Bluetooth connectivity to sync to you phone for easy operation and diagnostics.

I do also recommend swapping up to a higher rated weight distribution hitch like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66075. This hitch is rated higher to match the tongue weight of your trailer and offers sway control to help give you a safer ride.

It will require a 1-1/4" diameter threaded shank hitch ball and an adjustable shank, but it sounds like you already have this with your Curt WDH, so you could just swap these over to the Reese WDH.
