When it comes to maintenance on The Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Round Bar - 8,000 pounds GTW, 800 pounds TW # RE94FR you will first need to keep sockets in head assembly free of dirt and well lubricated in rotating or moving part will need to be lubricated. Excessive wear in this area may indicate overload or inadequate lubrication.
I recommend using The White Grease Hitch Ball Lube # 58117. This will help reduce friction and will not break down and is non-toxic.
You can apply the lubricant to not only the spring bar sockets but also to the hitch ball and weight distribution head.
Next you need to keep the head assembly exterior clean, especially the spring bar sockets. Do not allow dirt or stones to lodge between spring bar and head, and finally keep the hitch painted to prevent rust and to maintain a good appearance.
