Recommended Replacement for Duo Therm Air Conditioner

Question:

Hi, I have an old Duo Therm by Dometic rooftop air conditioner on my RV. I think the compressor is going bad because when the compressor cycles it will tripp a breaker at times. I have replaced the caps already on it. I am wondering if you would agree with my diagnosis first. Second will the ACM135 or ACM135B be a direct replacement for my rooftop unit? My current model is 57915.331. Thanks

That is a possbile issue on why your breaker is being tripped. I do suggest that you also verify that the breaker itself does not need to be replaced. If it is a weakened break, you may be compounding the issue. And yes, to your other question, the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 and # ACM135B are designed to be a direct replacement for the Dometic units. This will be a great option, and my recommendation for replacement providing you have an in good working order air distribution box and thermostat. I also recommend that you add the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners, # ACMSCKIT.
