What Voltage Is Required To Run An RV Air Conditioner And Do They Differ Between Brand

Question:

Hello, I have the 2019 forest river EVO 177BHFS and wanted to know if the AC unit is 120V or 240V and does it mater when replacing it?

Expert Reply:

RV AC units typically run off of 115v, which is essentially the same thing as 120v, so the only other determining factor you really need to look for is if the rooftop unit is compatible with your current system, unless of course you plan on replacing the entire system.

The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner - 13,500 Btu - Black # ACM135B you were looking at can be a simple plug and play installation/swap for an Advent Air, Dometic, Carrier Air, or Coleman Mach rooftop unit using the respective wiring harness adapter (# ACCOLKIT or # ACCARKIT).

I recommend also getting the start capacitor # ACMSCKIT to help the unit start up easier when campsite or generator power isn't quite enough. Start capacitors help extend the life of your unit by storing power for startup so they are well worth the small added cost.
