Advantages Of Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller Over Integrated Controller On 2017 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a 2017 F150 with a built in OEM brake controller. Besides the diagnostic readouts of the Prodigy P3, is there a benefit to adding the Prodigy P3 and getting rid of the OEM one? Lastly, what product numbers do I need to have a complete installation?

The big advantage for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 is going to be its adjustability. With the Ford integrated controller on your 2017 Ford F-150 you only have a gain adjustment. The P3 has a similar gain adjustment but there is also the 3 boost levels that allow you to really dial in your trailer brakes. And with the ability to save up to 5 different trailer profiles it makes changing between different trailers or vehicles easier since it can also be used with different vehicles. The P3 is also compatible with electric over hydraulic applications unlike the factory controller.
The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 22292 will allow you to connect to the Ford connector on your F-150 for a plug and play installation.
