Can Ram Truck with RamBoxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

So, I have a 2020 Ram 2500 with Rambox bed....I am in process of trading my bumper pull RV for a new 5th wheel. Seems like this setup is a challenge for some reason. I am assuming the RamBox sides must be higher than a standard bed side? And, I am also assuming the Rambox bed did not come with the factory puck system as I do not see anything in the floor of the bed. Could you please shed some light on this and provide a reasonable solution? Thank you so much for your response!

The Ram trucks that have the Ramboxes are a bit of a challenge to tow a fifth wheel trailer with the issue is not the height of the bed rails so much as it is the width of the bed rails. Since they are much wider and make the truck bed quite a bit narrower there isn't enough room for the pin box of the fifth wheel trailer to pivot out when making turns. The pin box of the trailer would hit the Ramboxes before a sharp turn could be made which is why the only solution is to install a Sidewinder pin box on the trailer that is getting towed as that moves the pivot point up higher and prevents this interference. The Sidewinders are pin box specific though so we'd have to know what pin box you have the trailer you end up going with to determine if there is a Sidewinder that is a fit for it. Most of the time there is a fit but not all of the time so this is a very important step for you.

So then you'd want a fixed hitch like the B and W Patriot # BWRVK3255 with a rail kit confirmed as a fit for your truck like the part # BWRVK2602.
