What is Stopping Side-to-Side Movement of Leaf Springs of Roadmaster Comfort Ride For 8K Axles

Question:

Looking at your pictures of the center bracket assembly why is there so much clearance between the walls of the bracket and the slipper spring with no wear plates? Is anything there to stop the springs from going side to side or is that the idea? My Hartland has 6 off 2 inch wide gapped hangers so would the unit fit?

Expert Reply:

It is a combination of the U-bolts and the tie plate that stops the lateral movement of the leaf springs in the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks - Tandem 8K, 3-1/2" Axles # RM-2470-2580.

They are tightened down, and the spring itself won't be able to move from side-to-side either on the axle, or inside the slipper spring box of the # RM-2470-2580. So yes, this kit will fit so long as you do have the 3-1/2" diameter axles on your trailer.
