Transmission Cooler and Install Location for 2008 GMC Yukon Denali

Question:

I have the vehicle above and it already has a transmission cooler, I notice while pulling the trailer the transmission temp get up around 255, im looking at adding a secondary transmission cooler to it to increase the amount of fluid in the system and possibly adding a fan onto it as well to help keep it cooler. Was just looking for some insight on what lines I should be looking at to complete this job.

You will want to install a supplemental transmission cooler on the return line of your correct transmission cooler. This means the fluid first goes into the factory cooler and then goes into the supplemental cooler before going back to the transmission. For a cooler for your 2008 GMC Yukon the Derale part # D13504 would be a really great option that's larger in size and a very efficient style. As long as you install this out in front of your current radiator/condenser setup this will work great and be sufficient for the job.

You could go with a remote style cooler that has a fan on it like the Derale Atomic part # D13950 but I would only recommend this route if you couldn't find a location that had air flow like I mentioned before. 255 degrees is pretty hot so going with a cooler would be a smart choice by the way.
