Can a Sidewinder Pin Box Be Used w/ a B&W Companion Flat Bed Hitch

Question:

I just recently put a flat bed on my truck. Had Bandw turn over in bed with companion fifth wheel. The flat bed made it 4-6 inches higher so I bought A bandw flat bed base from you. Now Im looking into the sidewinder pin box. Short bed truck and is closer to headache rack on flatbed. But it says not to be used with bandw turn over companion hitches? I’ve got a 10” extension on pin box now but that raises me up 3”. Can I use The sidewinder with my set up? Thanks

No, with your set-up you can not use a rotating pin box (Sidewinder). The Replacement Base for B&W Companion Flatbed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVB3055 you have still uses the turnover ball for its connection point. The reason you can not use a rotating pin box with the turn over Companion is that the way it attaches using the turnover ball can not handle the torque that is placed on the hitch by using a rotating pin box. You would not be able to use a rotating pin box with any hitch that attaches using a gooseneck hitch ball.

Another option you could consider would be to use the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset # AM3139. This would allow you to hook up to the gooseneck hitch ball directly and the # AM3139 would connect to your 5th wheels king pin and provide you with an 8" off set to help with clearance issues.

You would also need the Slide Hammer # AM3103 and Safety Chains for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3109 for installation.
