Inner Arms on Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar Will Not Move In and Out Easily

Question:

We have sprayed lubricants on the arms in hopes that the arms would loosen up. That has not done the job. One arm will work reasonably well the other seems bound up. the autowlok on both arms seem to move up and down at will. I would like to know if there is any thing we can do short of buying a new system to remedy the situation.

There may be some dirt and debris interfering with the normal function of the tow bar. Depending on what lubricant you used, that could actually add to the problem. Lubricants like WD40 should not be used. Instead use a silicone-base lubricant.

You may also need the Falcon 2 repair kit # RM-910003-60. The kit includes the following parts to make repairs to the tow bar:

(2) collar shoulder bolts
(2) 3/4 inch nuts
(2) Nylock nuts
(2) square black end caps
(9) 1-1/2 inch diameter acetyl washers
(2) 1-1/4 inch diameter acetyl inner arm bushings
(4) 3/4 inch diameter acetyl washers
(2) Nylatron outer arm bushings
This kit also contains the components to replace the Autowlok button assemblies:

(2) button stems
(2) Autowlok buttons
(2) springs
(2) pins
(1) epoxy glue kit

You can also try a non-abrasive cleaning pad to clean the arms. Also try to determine if the arm is bent. If it is that would explain the difficulty in moving it in or out. For a replacement driver side use # 910021-70 and for a replacement passenger side use # 910021-80.
