Parts Needed to Convert Titan Model 6 Drum Brake Actuator # T4079200 to 4-Disc Brake Operation

Question:

I am trying to use this drum actuator that I just purchased from you before I was told to go with disc brakes instead. One of your consultants said to remove the snap ring were the brake line attaches to the actuator. We could not find a snap ring, spring to pull out, nor a metal check value. If I purchase Part No.4747000 Master Cylinder-Disc Brake do I have to remove anything from it or do I install just as shipped? I purchased Part No. 4748800 Solenoid Valve also. Do I need to replace Part No. 1209800 Orifice Connectoras well? Looks like it will be easier to purchase a disc brake actuator with a solenoid value already installed. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is possible to rebuild a drum brake actuator to handle the higher pressure and fluid displacement required for disc brake assemblies. However, in the case of your four Kodiak disc brakes (part # K1HR35D) for use on a tandem axle trailer these will require more fluid displacement than can be provided even by a modified Model 6 actuator. A drum-to-disc-modified Model 6 actuator could handle the requirements of two brake assemblies but not four, according to my contact at Titan.

He advised that instead you will need to use a Model 10 disk brake actuator, part # T4750820, which has enough fluid displacement to operate four disc brake assemblies. This bolt-on actuator/coupler includes electric lockout solenoid with solenoid shield, breakaway kit, fits a 2-5/16-inch ball, mounts to 3-inch wide channel tongue and offers a tongue weight capacity of 1250-lbs. You will need to use a flexible brake line to attach the orifice connector at the master cylinder to the hydraulic brake line on the trailer. We offer several lengths including the 13-inch # T0777300 and the 25-inch # T0980100 from Titan.

I have linked the installation and operating instructions for the Titan Model 10 actuator.
