Pace Edwards Ultragroove truck bed cover - someone said that they could open it with a putty knife. Are there locking options for this product? Thanks.

I have a great locking tonneau cover option for the 5-1/2 foot bed on your 2018 Ford F-150. As far as the Pace Edwards UltraGroove Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-KRFA05A28, it comes with a passive locking solution. This means that the only way to open the cover is by lowering the tailgate on the truck. Of course, if you lock the tailgate, you will not be able to open the cover. Personally, I have not heard of anyone jimmying the mechanism on the UltraGroove with a putty knife. We do not have any additional locking add-ons that are compatible with this cover.

With that being said, we offer a more secure model. For that route, I recommend either the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-M-JRFA05A28. With the JackRabbit, not only do you receive the passive locking component with the tailgate, the cover also has built-in locks that require a key to open. The lock also allows you to lock the cover at any point along the rails.

The cannister of the Pace Edwards JackRabbit tonneau covers like the part #311-JED7936 are 9-3/4 inches wide so that is how much bed space you would lose.
