Recommended Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch For a 8,000LB Trailer With 850LBS Tongue Weight
Question:
I have 2019 Ram 1500 new design with towing setup. Getting ready to purchase travel trailer which fully loaded will be about 8000 lbs with tongue weight about 800 to 850 lbs. What is the best equalizer hitch for this setup? Also, how does the high weight factor into the gross weight calculations for the trailer?

Expert Reply:
I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET for your travel trailer. This system is rated for trailers up to 10,000lbs with a tongue weight of 600-1,000lbs. So your fully loaded tongue weight of 800-850lbs falls right in the middle.
The weight of the weight distribution system(107lbs) does not need to be factored into the weight of the trailer.
You will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the included 2-5/16" hitch ball onto the head of the Equal-i-zer hitch.
