Kayak Carrier That Works With An Older Thule TracRac G2 Bed Rack

Question:

I have a TracRac G2 and the Thule 883 Glide and Set kayak carriers. The cross bars are about 4" wide, and the clamping system for the saddles is 4" on center so they will not fit around the bar. I've thought the XADAPT kit but couldn't see one that would work. #9 looks like it might work but there are no dimensions. Is there a kit for this purpose?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Since the older TracRac bars are so thick your Thule 883 Slide and Glide will not work. This carrier will fit onto bars that are no taller than 1-1/2" wide, and 3-5/8" thick.

Instead, I recommend replacing your Thule 883 Slide and Glide, with the newer Thule DockGlide Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # TH896. This kayak carrier replaced the Thule 883, and can easily mount to your Thule TracRac G2 bars, by utilizing the t-track on the top.

This kit can carry 1 kayak weighing 75-lbs, and support a kayak with a maximum width of 36".
