Can I Carry 500 Lbs In The Etrailer 24X60 Cargo Carrier Without Any Issues When Hitting Potholes
Question:
Do any of your large ~ 24 x 60 hitch-mount cargo carriers actually survive real 500lb loads at highway speeds on pothole-infested roads?

I do not foresee you having any problems with this hitch cargo carrier and 500 lbs load, unless you are hitting very deep and extensive potholes. This is also based on you securing the load in the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Tilting - Folding - 500 lbs, part # e98874.
If you can put everything in one bag, I recommend the etrailer Cargo Bag w/ Mounting Straps - Water Resistant - 20 cu ft - 59" x 24" x 24", part # 988501. It is a weather resistant bag than can hold up to 20 cu ft. of gear. It comes with 6 tie-down straps with buckles to secure it to your hitch cargo rack. You can also add a padlock to lock this bag.
We also have a wide variety of tie-down straps. I like the Ratchet Tie Down Straps w/ Storage Bag - 12' Long x 1-1/4" Wide - 830 lbs - Qty 4, part # ETBMB-05852. These are robust straps with ratcheting cam buckles with s-hooks.
I have included a weblink with our selection of tie-down straps, product description links, and video review links below.
