Replacement #84 Spindle and Idler Hub with 5 on 5-1/2 Inch Bolt Pattern

Question:

I need help determining the correct spindle and hub for a trailer. Hub is 5 on 5.5”. Axle diameter is 2 1/4”, inside diameter is 2”. The spring distance is about 80.5”, I can’t get hub face because one fell off. The existing appears to be a welded stub to the end of the pipe. I have found spindles with a 2” shaft that I guess goes inside the pipe, but I cannot find one with a 2 1/4” stub that is also 5 on 5.5”. Can you help please?

Expert Reply:

Sounds like you're needing the #84 spindle # TRU24FR for 3,500 lb axles which works with the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-555-35-K with the 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.

Be sure to have an experienced welder perform the installation as you want the spindle in the correct orientation so your tire doesn't wear funny.
