Tekonsha Voyager XP Brake Controller Installed On A 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 Not Engaging Brakes

I have a Tekonsha Voyager XP on a 2006 Sierra 2500. The green LED lights up when a trailer is connected. However, when I engage the brake, the trailer brakes do not engage, even with the maximum level set on the brake controller. The only issue I can find is that the LED light does not pulsate from green to orange when I adjust the LEFT level knob, which is what the instructional video says should happen. Can you help me with this issue? I have unplugged the wiring harness and reconnected and still the same issue. I know its an older model, it may just be time for an upgrade.

There are a few tests you can do first before you go replacing your Tekonsha Voyager XP.
In your truck cab sever the blue wire several inches from back of the brake controller, and use a circuit tester # PTW2993 to check for power on the back of the unit when the brake pedal or the manual override is engaged.
If there is power to the controller at idle, then that is indicating that there a problem with the controller and will need to be replaced.
You can reconnect the blue wire and move to the back of the truck to the trailer connector. Inspect the connector for dirt and debris and ensure it is in good operating quality, as this could be the source of an issue.
You should check the brake output pin on the connector, and again should only show power when the manual override or brakes are engaged. If you're noticing power anytime before that, then that is indicating that you may have a short somewhere between the connector and brake controller.
If all that checks out, you might also consider checking the brake magnets, and ensuring that wires aren't pinched or frayed.
If you're good there as well, you might consider replacing the entire unit. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 with the plug-in adapter # 3015-P.
You'll also need the Pollak 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket w/ Wiring Harness and Mounting Bracket # PK11898, and the Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors # 30955 to complete installation.
