Why Can Thule EasyFold XT Work With a Class I Hitch But Yakima OnRamp Cannot
Question:
Why does the Thule Easy Fold XT bike rack work with an 1 1/4 class 1 hitch and the Yakima Ramp On does not? Thanks for your help.

Yakima tends to be a bit more cautious with their bike racks which is why they say not to use the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR with a Class I hitch whereas Thule isn't concerned about that with their EasyFold XT Bike Rack # TH903202.
Class I hitch receivers tend to be pretty weak so it's really up to the bike rack manufacturer whether or not they feel comfortable approving their rack being used on a Class I. This actually isn't super uncommon so I recommend sticking with what the bike rack manufacturer says so that you stay under the warranty.
