Longest 2" Ball Coupler For 3" Trailer Tongue

Question:

Hi, I have a FLOE 100 snowmobile trailer 1996 it currently has a demco surge brake actuator. i removing all the surge brakes and will go to all electric. i need a new 2inch ball coupler that will fit a 3 inch wide aluminum frame. QUESTION: im concerned about mounting a SHORTER coupler than what the surge coupler is. because the trailer has front fold down ramps so you can drive the snowmobile off, and a shorter coupler may make the ramps hit the back of the truck... SO i need a 2 inch coupler that is about the same length as the old demco actuator was. see pics of actuator and the trailer with the ramps folded down...just so you can see my concern. thx!

Thanks for the photo, and that's an interesting issue. Realistically though, standard trailer couplers are shorter than their surge brake actuator counterparts, and there's unfortunately just no way around that. I can give you the longest possible option, but it is going to be shorter because brake actuators need a place to house the cylinder and standard couplers do not. The longest 2" ball coupler for a 3" channel is from Demco:

- Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM15000-52

The # DM15000-52 measures 14" in length overall, which is hopefully not too far off from what you have. Otherwise, this is a 10,000 lb capacity coupler that has a simple latching system; you just have to drop the coupler over the hitch ball and you're set.

The only other thing you may want to consider is a lock, the Surge Brake Coupler Lock # e98887.
