What is the Distance From Hitch Pin Hole to End of Receiver on Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver
Question:
Im looking for a riser to mount an aluminum cargo carrier for luggage but it needs to be raised by 4 or 6inch in order to clear even the slightest angled incline. The extensions Ive seen may have multiple hitch pin options so you can extend different lengths, however, it appears the hidden hitch receiver is very short. I have read that the weight capacity diminishes because of the change in geometry of the load, between 33-50, and with a 150lb rating that means Im down to 75lbs for a tesla model 3, the carrier alone is 20lbs, the extension is 15-17lbs, that means my usable capacity is 40lbs? Would be a very poor and extremely expensive means to carry an additional 40lbs.

The distance from the hitch pin hole on the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # 391TES317 is 2-1/2". Once installed on your 2018 Tesla Model 3 it will stick out about 3-3/4" from the bottom edge of your rear bumper. You are also correct, using an extension typically reduces your capacity by 50%.
In order to avoid this problem I recommend using the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2-1/2" Hitch - 6" Drop/Rise - 21K # 325-GH-623. The Gen-Y stacked receiver design does not reduce your tongue weight at all, so you will be able to maintain your 150 lb tongue weight capacity. This has a maximum rise of 6" so you should be able to get the clearance you were looking for.
