The part that you referenced is a brake controller adapter that is designed to work with the Hopkins Agility Brake Controller # HM47294, and is available for many Toyota vehicles but not for the Toyota Highlander. According to Hopkins they do not support a plug in adapter for your 2008 Toyota Highlander. I have also confirmed with another one of our manufactures and the only brake controller wiring option supported for a 2008 Toyota Highlander is a hardwire option not a plug in adapter. The 2008 Toyota Highlander had the option to be equipped with a factory 4-way installed, but there was not a 7-way option therefore the hardwire installation is your best bet.

To install a brake controller and associated wiring harness for your 2008 Toyota Highlander you will have to install an # ETBC7. This product uses the vehicles established 4-way, and then with the addition of some extra wiring the 7-way is established that will support a brake controller.

I have included a helpful article that explains how to install the # ETBC7 for your reference, and a video of this being installed on a slightly newer version of your vehicle.

If you are needing a brake controller as well the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 is an excellent choice. This is a proportional brake controller that is extremely reliable and user friendly.

I have provided links to the parts listed above as well as some helpful articles, and a videos for your reference.
