Replacement Axle, Hubs, And Brakes For A M101 Army Cargo Trailer

Question:

I have a customer with an M101 trailer and they need new drum brake components. I would like to change the plate, cylinders, shoes and hardware altogether. The dimensions of the wheels are approximately 13 in diameter, 3 wide and with an 8 lug setup

I do have a solution for you. Unfortunately, we do not offer the exact parts that you need. Our solution will require you to go with a Timbren Axle Less setup. With the Timbren's installed you will not have to use leaf springs for your trailer. In addition to the axles, you will also need the brakes and new wheels - there is not an 8 lug option for the Timbren Axle-Less suspension system.

Your axle's will be rated for 2,000 lbs. If your trailer is going to be using regular tires, you will be using the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange - Regular Tires - 2,200 lbs, part # ASR1THDS01. You will have the choice of bolting or welding on this axle.

The next thing you will need are hubs. I recommend the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized, part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. These hubs have a weight capacity of 1,750 lbs. I would pair them with the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs, part # 23-47-48.

The last thing you will need are the replacement wheels. The Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D, part # AM31994, will replace your existing 13" wheels. They have a maximum load limit of 1,660 lbs.

I have included product description links and video demos below.
