Ellen: Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. We're taking a quick look at the tap and die set. This is going to be a metric set to help you get any kind of hole drilled out that's going to be threaded. Maybe you need to repair a bolt or just make some new hardware, whatever the case might be, this is going to be really handy for a lot of different jobs at home, or the shop, or wherever.Let's take a closer look at it. It comes in this hard plastic case, nothing too fancy or special about it, but it does help to keep everything contained. It's pretty compact, so easy to transport.

Now this is available in an SAE format, as well. Not a bad idea to get both just so that you're prepared for any kind of job that might come your way. The SAE one is sold separately here at etrailer.com.Let's take a look at what we get with our metric sizes. In here we're going to have 17 different dye and 17 different taps. We'll have two tap wrenches, one that's going to be for the smaller little guys.

That's going to be our wrench there. You can easily adjust that to get the tap in place. We'll have our larger tap wrench so you can just thread those out to get it to be the appropriate size to fit in whatever tap you're using. Then we'll have our dye wrench. There's a small screwdriver that comes with it so that you can loosen up this set nut, pop out the dye, pop in whatever size you need and get going.There's also a small tool here so you can figure out what kind of threads you might have on a bolt, if you're trying to replace it or duplicate hardware or something like that.

You've got quite a few sizes on this. It might be kind of tricky to get some of these to come out. I actually had to use a small screwdriver just to push them all out, not a big deal, but something. Fan those all out. We've got 0.9, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 28, and then 0.5, 0.6...

let me fan these out a little bit more. 0.7, 0.75, 0.8 and 27. It just gives you those different thread size to make it a little bit easier to figure out what you're working with.All in all, I think it's a pretty complete set. Is it going to be the best quality in the world No, but I think it's going to be pretty decent to get the job done. If you're going to be using this every day, you might want to upgrade to something that's a little bit nicer. But I think it should do, because this is typically going to be a kit that you're not going to use all the time, unless you're just fabricating stuff a lot. I would like if the SAE and the metric came together. I think that would just be kind of more handy to have them all in one kit rather than having to have them in two, but that's just my opinion.Last thing I'm going to do is give you some measurements of the box. It's about 13 inches by about six and a quarter and about one and three-quarter inches tall. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right tool kit for you.
