Is a 1500 Pound Winch Strong Enough for a 22-1/2 Foot Boat
Question:
Is this winch great enough to use on my boat trailer. I have a 22.5foot crownline ski boat with a 5.3 I/O Volvo engine and a fuel tank with a capacity of 60 gallons.

Expert Reply:
Boat to winch capacity is normally 2 to 1. For a 22.5 foot boat with a big motor and 60 gallons of fuel I recommend going with a 3,200 pound winch such as the Fulton XLT winch # F1424251. It also uses a strap, the winch is fully enclosed which is good for marine applications, and it is rated at 3,200 pounds. I have linked a video review and our FAQ article on winches for you.
