Recommended Electric Trailer Jack For a Boat Trailer Without Needing a On Board Battery
Question:
Looking for an electric trailer jack for my boat+trailer w combined weight of 7,500lbs. I have an A frame trailer but it does not have a whole to install regular jack so i woul dhave to buy a side mount adapter. Looking at Lippert and stromberg. which one is faster and more quiet? also looking at Fulton but it does not come with 7-pin cable. I dont want to put in a battery. what options do I have?

For ease of installation and use I feel the Fulton XLT Powered Drive Trailer Jack # F141401 is going to work the best. This will bolt to a frame up to 3" wide and 5" tall so you will not need an adapter like you will with a A-Frame jack since you don't have the hole for it already. The 8" drop leg will greatly decrease the time it takes to raise your trailer. We do not test all the jacks for noise and speed as they can be different depending on the amount of load put on the jacks. The jack is rated for 2,500lbs and will be plenty to raise your 7,500lb boat and trailer. Since the jack is only lifting the trailers tongue weight which is generally 10-15% of the trailer weight.
The Fulton XLT can easily connect to a Bargman 7-Way, RV-Style Connector w/ 6' Long Coiled Cable # WG54006-043 which will allow you to gain power from the 7-way connector on your vehicle rather than installing a battery on your boat trailer. The coiled cable makes it easier for you to store the cable while still having enough length to reach the 7-way on your vehicle. A 7-Way Trailer Harness Plug Protector # ACP7B will help to secure the end of the 7-way connector on the trailer when not in use.
You will want to ensure that your tow vehicle does have a working 7-way connector as I have seen some manufacturers leave out the fuse or relay for the charge line.
