Should I Add Suspension Enhancement To My 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 Pulling A 13,500 Pound Camper?
Question:
Hi there! I just upgraded my truck to a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 so I can pull our camper. I haven't actually done this yet as it's cold and not really the season for it yet, but I figured I would try to get ahead of the game. My camper weighs right at 13,500 pounds loaded, so I wanted to ask if I should put some suspension enhancement on it? The reason I upgraded to this truck was because my last one was starting to get a little old and worn out, we tow it pretty often, and it really needed the air bags we put on it. Now, this truck is brand new and A LOT nicer, but what do you think? Thanks for your help!

As 13,500 pounds of weight can put a considerable amount of strain on your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500's factory suspension, I do recommend supplementing it. And specifically, I recommend the American made Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2613.
This can be inflated up to 100 psi, giving you up to 5,000 pounds of load leveling capacity, but can then be deflated down to 5 psi when you are not towing. This means your stock ride will be affected significantly less than other heavier duty and non-adjustable systems. Which is why I like it. It is also a pretty straight forward install that requires no drilling, which is also nice. This is definitely the way to go.
The only thing you may want to add onto this is the Firestone Air Command II # F2178 compressor kit. Though not completely necessary, it does allow you to adjust the air bags on the fly, and even each bag individually in case you have an uneven load. I quite like these features, so it is always something I mention with an air bag kit.
