What All Is Needed To Convert To Disc Brakes On A 2021 Grand Design Momentum With 7,000 Pound Axles?

Hi. I purchased a 2021 Grand Design Momentum 5th Wheel Toy Hauler last year and have been enjoying it immensely. However, I don't like the electric brakes. So I want to get it converted over to a disc brake system. I have the Tekonsha P3 brake controller so I know it can handle this type of set up, but what all do I need and which kit will fit my toy hauler? It has 7,000 pound axles and 8 lug wheels on it. I am looking at the HydraStar kit that has the terminal box and break away kit as well. Is this a good option? The reviews seem to be pretty good for it. Thanks in advance.

If you are wanting to upgrade to disc brakes on your 2021 Grand Design Momentum 5th Wheel Toy Hauler, you are definitely in luck. We actually have an install video of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712E being installed on a 2020 Momentum and is the one I recommend going with. These have an E-coat finish that provides good corrosion resistance and can actually be used for freshwater and limited saltwater use, though I don't recommend submerging your toy hauler. This kit will also match your 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern, so no need to change your wheels out. It does not includes bearings, seals, or caps though, so I have them listed below.
Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing # 14125A
Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing # 25580
Grease Seal - Double Lip # GS-2250DL
Grease Cap, 2.44" OD Drive In with Plug - Qty 2 # RG04-080
You will also need some brake lines. For a tandem axle, you will need the # HS496-252.
I was actually going to recommend the HydraStar # HS381-9067 kit before I saw that you were looking at it. I like that it comes with the break away kit and junction/terminal box to make things easier, but I have also found the HydraStar actuators to be the best we currently carry. You are also correct in that your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller will have absolutely no problem getting this set up working properly.
Just as a side note, you will need one brake kit per axle. You will also need two of each bearing, two seals, and one grease cap set per axle as well.
