Height Of The Excel RV Tankless Water Heater And Clearance Needed For Installation

Question:

The height that you quote contradicts what is in print on your website… what am I to believe? If your website information changes then I’ll conclude that you determined it was wrong and what you told me is correct. Other sources say 3” space above and 2” to the sides… you say 8” above and 3” to the sides without mentioning if that is above the louver or above the basic box.

The body of the Excel RV Tankless On-Demand Water Heater # EX93FR is actually 14.5" tall with the optional louver being an additional 4.5" tall. Because of the vent free design this heater can be placed anywhere besides a bathroom or bedroom so you can place it inside of your kitchen cabinet. It just requires 3" of clearance on the sides and 8" of clearance above.

I actually just watched a video from someone who had theirs installed in a cabinet by cutting the shelf and mounting it to the back wall of the cabinet so that it was completely out of the way. He stated he had been using his for seven years already and had no issues with airflow.

I've attached a video below where Jeff will go over some of the features of this unit and will show you it's dimensions.

To clear up all the confusion I pulled the unit from the warehouse and measured it myself. The measurements we previously had posted were a direct reflection of what the manufacturer sent us when setting the water heater up in our system. The measurements I got for the # EX93FR were 14-5/8" tall x 11-1/4" wide x 5-1/4" deep (depth includes the brackets that protrude off of the body of the unit, so this measurement would give you the actual depth from the wall). The louver is 4.5" as stated in the video Jeff made going over the water heater features. As for the clearance, I did call the manufacturer and was told that there needed to be 3" of clearance from each side and 8" of clearance from the top of the body of the water heater regardless of the louver being used. The dimensions of this water heater will be updated on the product page to directly reflect what I found and I've also attached a diagram below displaying the dimensions.
