Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to 2005 Ford F-150 With Factory 4-Flat
Question:
Hi I have a 2005 Ford F150 that only has the flat 4 pin trailer plug. I would like to put the round 7 flat pin for a rv on it. I dont see anything for that. The kit for a 2004 #118247 says it does not fit the 2005. Is there a kit like that for the 2005? Thanks

While you can definitely add a 7-way to your 2005 Ford F-150, there isn't a plug-in option like the # 118247, which I verified with the manufacturer is not a fit for your '05. So you will need to do some hardwiring, and what you will need is the following:
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7
The # ETBC7 will give you the 7-way needed, as well as the rest of the wiring required for the installation. Your factory 4-flat will plug into the 7-way and you need to wire the rest to the wires under your F-150. I have added a link below to a help article which helps explain exactly what you need to do.
I wanted to note that this help article mentions the 7-way adapter # 37185, which is part of the # ETBC7 kit, as is the mounting bracket, circuit breakers, and added hardware needed for install, which is why it is recommended to go with the # ETBC7 instead of just adapter # 37185.
